This "Special" offers the Premium Silent Pellet Trap plus Metal Backing Plate.
The Archer Airguns Premium "Silent" Pellet Trap is an officially-licensed version of the original design by Dr Joe Matusic. Described by the noted airgun author Jock Elliott as "the best pellet trap on earth", this trap is ideal for indoor airgun shooting with springers, PCPs and CO2 air rifles and pistols.
The Premium "Silent" Pellet Trap is beautiful, durable, functional and long-lasting. Strongly-constructed, it stops and catches pellets fired from your airguns without the noisy, annoying clang of a metal trap. So you can shoot airguns indoors without disturbing family or neighbors!
This pellet trap is easy to set-up and fast to use. You have no additional costs with this pellet trap once you have the trap and Duct Seal/impact putty! There is no need to continually buy targets, cardboard backers and replacement impact putty, just download your targets from the links on this page and print them at home (or work?) using your own printer. The impact putty (or duct seal - NOT plumber's putty) adheres to the back of the trap and stays in place through continued use.
And it's safe. This pellet trap stops pellets even from high-powered .22 caliber air rifles and catches them safely in it's huge internal pellet reservoir. This avoids pellets bouncing out of the trap onto the floor, where they could present a safety risk to small children and pets.
This pellet trap has a pedigree! Archer Airguns has exclusively licenced the "Improved Silent Pellet Trap" designed by Joe Matusic, MD and used for years by hundreds of serious airgunners. I've fired thousands of pellets into this trap and never had a pellet bounce out - and my experience is typical.
Craftsman-made right here in Up-State New York, the Archer Airguns Premium "Silent" Pellet Trap is hand-crafted from solid 3/4-in. select Northeastern Red Oak and cabinet-quality birch plywood. It's finished in a durable and attractive varnish that highlights the gorgeous wood grain and provides long-lasting beauty.

FAQs
What
type of paper should I use when printing at home?
When you
print your own targets to shoot indoors, don't print them on standard
20-pound copy paper. Yes it's cheap, yes you probably have some
in stock already, but it makes a terrible target because the paper tears
so badly that it's tough to tell where the shots really went. Use
a heavier weight of paper, you won't regret it. Check your computer printer
specifications for the heaviest weight of paper that it will transport
and find a supply. Archer Airguns test targets are printed on 67-pound
card stock as this gives good, clear holes and minimal tearing.
Which
type of pellets are best for "paper punching"?
There's
no doubt about it, wadcutter pellets excel at making good, sharp holes
in paper targets - just stock-up on your favorite brand. Pointed-
and round-nose pellets don't make a satisfactory hole that you
can score easily, the paper tends to "close-up" after they
pass through: save them for field use.

Archer
Airguns |
This trap
has been tested successfully with airguns having muzzle energies of up
to 17 ft/lbs (10.5 grain pellet at 850fps) with 1.5-inch depth of putty.
Obviously this covers the vast majority of .177, .20 and .22 caliber
air rifles in general use. But, if your airgun has a greater muzzle energy,
or if you are in doubt, add an extra thickness of putty behind the target
area - use plenty, you can always take some off! - and test
your gun, pellet and target combination carefully. Always the rule is,
be over-cautious and test carefully for your own circumstances.
Can
I buy additional target holders and impact putty?
Yes, just
order from the shopping cart above. But it may be best to buy the impact
putty locally if you can as it's heavy and shipping is expensive. The pellet trap is not supplied with putty. This can be purchased fro Archer Airguns or you can buy it from an electrical supply store, or at Home Depot,
Lowes etc. The putty is called "Duct Seal" and it's
used in electrical contracting work to fill holes around cables entering
walls. It's usually gray in color and plastic-wrapped in a "pug" about
6-in long x 2-in wide x 1-in deep and weighing 1lb. It costs about $2
to $3 per pug. Six pounds of putty will provide a backing of about 1-in
depth across the target area of the trap.
What
happens if I damage the pellet trap?
The answer
is "don't do that!". Obviously, there is huge variety
in the myriad types of airgun, pellets and shooter capabilities and we
cannot test for every eventuality. Archer Airguns cannot be liable for
any damage to the trap, or to surrounding property, or to people or pets
through the use of this trap. Please shoot carefully and think every
time before you pull the trigger!
What
safety precautions do I need to take when using this pellet trap?
Always
remember lead safety precautions and follow them.
- Always wash your
hands after touching lead and before you touch food or your mouth or
other mucous membranes.
- This trap should
not produce dust (unless you do not clean the caked pellets adequately).
Should you encounter lead dust, wear a suitable face mask to avoid
inhaling any lead dust.
- You should follow
local laws on lead disposal. Contact your local garbage disposal service
for information on lead disposal.
- Archer Airguns cannot
be liable for any damage to the trap, or to surrounding property, or
to people or pets through the use of this trap.
Use of this trap does
not replace the need for care when shooting. As always, think before
you pull the trigger and consider what may happen if you miss your point-of-aim!
- There is no claim
for this product being able to stop any projectile. Duct Seal has been
used successfully for years in airgun shooting, but repetitive shooting
in one area or use of too powerful airguns could result in not enough
putty to stop a projectile and resultant damage to property etc. This
product is essentially sold as-is and you must use your own common
sense and discretion with its use.
